SRP and The Precisionists, Inc. Celebrate 5-Year Neurodiverse Employment Partnership
Phoenix, AZ (December 12, 2023) – SRP, an Arizona power and water utility, is celebrating a five-year partnership with The Precisionists (TPI), a Wilmington, Delaware-based organization focused on employment for adults with disabilities. This innovative employment program uses the talents from TPI’s workforce, who are impacted by autism and other neurodiversities, to tackle critical business needs for SRP.
In October 2018, to support its commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, SRP joined forces with TPI on a pilot project, which included a team of six consultants from TPI’s workforce tasked with reviewing contents of thousands of boxes for SRP’s Records Management department in an effort to enable more efficient indexing of the materials. After the successful results of the initial project, the partnership has grown to 20 TPI consultants supporting business needs of SRP across nine areas of the business, performing services such as, software testing, analytics & data engineering, load research, workspace technology, and legal support services.
“When properly assessed and trained, people with autism and other neurodiversities are extremely high-performing employees working in critical and challenging jobs such as administrative business functions, including scanning documents and data entry, software testing, website QA, and data analytics,” said Ernie Dianastasis, CEO of The Precisionists. “We are thrilled to be on this inclusive employment journey with SRP. Through our robust partnership, we are creating jobs and enabling careers for individuals whose talents might otherwise be overlooked or underutilized. I am thankful for the past five years that SRP has committed to this partnership with The Precisionists and am excited for what the future of our collaboration will bring to the inclusive employment movement. Together our organizations are impacting countless lives by enabling opportunities for dignity and independence that meaningful employment provides.”
“SRP is proud to be the first company in Arizona to partner with TPI on this innovative program. Not only are we able to provide these individuals with meaningful work that gives them the opportunity to financially support themselves and their families, but SRP has benefited immensely from dedicated and talented employees,” said Geri Mingura, SRP Associate General Manager and Chief Human Resources Executive. “We commend TPI for harnessing their special talents and providing valuable employees for SRP.”
“In my more than 30–year career at SRP, this has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have been a part of. Our collaboration with TPI has made good business sense by not only completing key business initiatives in a high quality, cost competitive manner, but doing so with a team of people who exemplify what it is to be extraordinary employees who might have otherwise not have been given such an opportunity,” said Greg Whicker, SRP Director of IT . “To see the growth and confidence grow as they continue to provide value to our mission truly warms the heart and is something I will always cherish. I am thankful to Ernie’s insight and leadership in working with SRP and I’m excited to see what this partnership will continue to bring in the coming years.”
Individuals taking part in the neurodiverse employment program at SRP are identified, assessed, trained, and employed by TPI. Those entering the program go through a comprehensive four-week training program. While supporting SRP’s business functions, TPI consultants also receive ongoing direction, training, and support from their TPI project leader.
